If Daft Punk wrote the music for the Blue Lagoon movie remake, the result would be something like the beauty look at 3.1 Phillip Lim's Spring 2014 presentation. Inspired by the holographic sunglasses in the collection, lead makeup artist Francelle Daly featured iridescent purple shades in the makeup concept. After incorporating a few drops of Copacabana Illuminator ($30) to tinted moisturizer to give the entire face a highlight, she added bluish-purple tones to the face using the Luxor Multiple ($39). The finished look had a pearlized effect, with blue and purple undertones that shimmered in the runway lighting.
While skin was luminous and futuristic, the hair was more like a trip to Gilligan's Island. Paul Hanlon wanted the hair to be savage, as if the models washed up on a deserted beach. He dampened the entire head with Osis Grip mousse ($19) and Twin Curl ($20) before tying strands in a knot at the nape. Then, hair was diffused dry for a chunky, dreadlock finish.
