Aya Fukuda, Nail Artist For Lady Gaga, Gives Us the Scoop on her Manicures 2011-03-07 14:00:00

Lady Gaga's Nail Artist Dishes on the Star's "Born This Way" Nails and Life With Gaga

Aya Fukuda is the nail artist responsible for Lady Gaga's latest pointy high fashion manicure and created her interstellar nails for the "Born This Way" video. So to see what Fukuda says it's like to work with Gaga, how they come up with wild new designs, and even how she did the star's nails for the video, just keep reading.

On how she started working with Lady Gaga:
"Hair Room Service called me for Lady Gaga. Hair Room Service is a company I work with based in NYC that provides house calls throughout the city."

On her collaborative process with Gaga:
"Lady Gaga gives me so much inspiration. When designing her nails I always keep in mind her eccentric yet glamorous style. When I come up with designs I feel represent her, I'll show Gaga and we go with them if she approves. Making nails for her is so much fun and truly a piece of art."

On creating Gaga's hot new "talon" manicure:
"We call this shape the 'sexy Gaga shape.' Gaga wanted a very pointy, sexy-shaped nail, so I created this shape based on her request."

On creating Gaga's nails for "Born This Way":
"I really loved what I did for Lady Gaga in 'Born this Way.' I used a vibrant red and black polish from Priti NYC and finished it off with Swarovski crystals in jet color and silver metal."

On what she and Gaga will be doing next:
"My next big project is something I can't talk about just yet . . . The inspiration and ideas I come up with for Lady Gaga are endless. I already have so many new and fresh ideas which I have plans to use very soon."

It her way of self expression. May not be your thing, she's setting a trend that millions will follow. We must grow with time if we all kept dressing and acting the same the world would be a bore....

I will never think of long pointy nails as anything but tacky. Same goes for fake nails in general.
