During a season that has so far been about DIY [1] beauty looks, Badgley Mischka [2]'s Fall 2014 show offered a refreshing dose of drama and elegance. "It's about sophistication, elegance, and drama . . . and rich. That's the most important part," lead makeup artist Tom Pecheux for MAC Cosmetics joked. He created a red-carpet-ready eye look with loose gold pigment, layered beneath gold liner and MAC Fluidline in Black [3] ($16). Pink-lavender lips finished the look.
Hair was equally dramatic, but in a different way. Lead hairstylist Peter Gray for Moroccanoil was inspired by the paintings of Gustav Klimt. He created a sideswept bang that looked as if it were painted on, using Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse [4] ($28) for control, not volume.
Nails by Deborah Lippmann were inspired by the delicate beading of the collection. "It's the nail look of a Viennese princess who snuck out of her castle to meet her Russian boyfriend at the club," Lippmann explained. She swept on a pewter chrome hue, Take the A Train, from her Fall 2014 collection ($18, available in August) before adding Glitter and Be Gay [5] ($20) in a half-moon design.
The overall aesthetic was incredibly chic, gorgeously elegant, and ready to be seen on the red carpet.
