This bothers me. She had her hairline lifted to make her look younger, and to show off her great face, her hairline was very low. She had this done via electrolysis, as well as her eyebrows. She had her hair dyed strawberry blonde. The dessert at her wedding to Prince Alli Khan(sp?) was called "Strawberry blonde" and was created just for her. Grace Kelly was not the only actress who married a prince. Only Hayworth was not made as big a deal probably because she didn't say it all the time every chance she got and her prince maybe was not as popular as the one kelly married. Rita also married Orson Welles and had a daughter, Rebecca with him. Her other daughter Yasmin Aga or Ala Khan was with the prince and she is active in Alzheimers and Alcoholism issues in remembrance of her late mom. Rita's dad was spanish american and her mom was irish american.

Her long red hair may have been fierce and what made her a star, but her best role, both acting-wise and looks-wise, was as the white-blond siren Elsa Bannister in The Lady from Shanghai, with Orsen Welles. If you have not seen it, watch it - Rita Hayworth is and looks amazing with short, white-blond hair, Orson Welles dons a stunning Scottish accent, and the ending is a killer...

Beautiful, gorgeous, and incredible bone structure - by today's standards, however, this is very softcore sex appeal, if you can call it that. Just amazing how much things have changed, and how risqué things have gotten (VS catalogs/ads, anyone?) in a matter of decades.

There were so few redheads back then in old Hollywood. She always stood out to me.

I adore her, Jayne Mansfield, Betty Grable and so on. I wish I grew up back then...

I read that too Leilanic, apparently she was chubby and had a small forehead, so she underwent some "changes". The outcome is stunning, but I'd be curious to see her before.

She was so sultry and seemed carefree at the same time. She has a timeless face; it's hard to believe that she was born in the same year as my grandfather!

She was definitely a beautiful woman, but it just saddens me that she couldn't be more forward with her heritage in trying to fit in with the old Hollywood standard.

she was so gorgeous! the studio actually had her raise her hairline to make her look more 'white' and less ethnic. its interesting how much the studios played a part in a young starlets life back then..
