It's curly-haired Bella back with an update for all my no-poo and plopping pals. I've been keeping my regimen of sulfate-free shampoo and recently added a new step: Since I'm still feeling on the right side of my upside-down drying technique (aka plopping), I've taken to doing this while in the shower as well.

No, I'm not a gymnast – I bend down so the top of my head faces my toes. You see, when adding conditioner, this position helps work the product into the whole scalp before naturally running down the tresses . . . and not just coating the top layers. My curly-haired expert told me this would also not weigh down my waves and, although I was skeptical, it totally works. Learn the steps when you

  • Squeeze conditioner into your hands and bend at the waist.
  • Apply conditioner to your hair (while bent over) taking care to begin at the scalp and work your way down gently, detangling as you go.
  • Plop hair into a plastic shower cap and you're back upright for the rest of the shower.
  • When it's time to rinse the conditioner, bend back over and rinse it out this way as well. [Note: If you don't have a hand-held shower attachment, this will take some special breathing or nose-plugging skills to not have water shoot right into your upside-down nose.]

Come to think of it, I always apply my postshower products on my curly hair in this position, so why was I surprised at my success? Now, turn your beauty routine upside down, and let me know how it goes for you!
