With Aucoin, it's oh-kwa. The n is silent. Guerlain is guer-leh. English is taught to pronounce all the letters.

This is the coolest thing EVER! I was just researching how the hell to pronounce L'Occitane since I don't speak a word of French. Now I can walk into a Sephora store and not sound like an idiot when I ask for certain product. So cool.

This is handy! But I've found that hearing them is the best way - so you can tell where to put the accent! Is there a way we can have people link to uploaded mini wav files with the pronunciations?

I was taught french at 5 years old and it definitely helps to speak french because when I look at the spelling, I cant connect it with the french pronunciation that I use. It helps those who don't speak french though but eu sounds, etc. take practice.

haha, I LOVE that Estee Lauder is on there!

I always said nars

Guerlain is more like Gerr-len, not gerr-lahn or goor-lahn. Agent Provocateur is a tricky one, because "eur" is just a sound anglophones aren't familiar with. It's more like "er" if you were to Americanize it. Ah-jawn pro-vo-kah-ter.

I have never heard the NARS brand with this pronounciation, it's very interesting... Guerlain! I believe it's pronounced like gerr-lahn too... And Versace! There are many discussions about this brand's pronounciation. I watched a show on E! television about Oscar Red carpet fashion. There were some fashion designers at studio and 2 hosts at the red carpet, they discussed about the pronounciation of Versace. One said "Ver-Sa-Che" and others said "Ver-Sa-Se". They didn't compromise :)

um...i speak french, and i may be mistaken, but i believe Guerlain is pronounced: gerr-lahn...yeah.

Ha, that is funny. I forgot about Showgirls and Versace. Another important one to know: Hermes should be said "air-mez" not "her-mees".

Bellatrix, I know some of the words aren't precisely French, but I tried to make a good approximation. It's difficult for Americans to make certain French sounds simply because we don't have them in English (for instance, the "oo" in 'tu' or 'musique' just doesn't exist in English). But if you have any suggestions on how to do it better, let us know! The more knowledge, the better. :)

I've always called "Nars" nars. Interesting, I've never heard it pronounced "nahr"
