Whether it's going to get your brows waxed or tweezed by someone new or having no idea how to create the brows you aspire to have at home, we've all felt like we may or may not be wasting our money — and maybe even endangering our brows. Benefit Cosmetics might have a solution.

Known for Brow Bars around the country and a new brow collection that launched in June 2016, Benefit has created an augmented reality tool, aptly named Brow Try-On [1], launching online on Jan. 15. If you've ever wondered what you'd look like with straighter, thicker, lighter, or darker brows with higher arches, this site is meant to keep you from gambling with tweezing or buying unnecessary products. Instead, the site creates different brow styles on your face so you can decide what looks best. We tried it out before anyone else, and it looks like your actual brows are changing before your very eyes, not like a filter you'd find on Snapchat or Instagram.

After creating your look, it suggests the best products for you. Or you have the option of taking the image into a Brow Bar and they will create the look for you. The brand teamed up with Modiface [2], a leader in AR technology specifically for beauty brands, so that consumers can test out different products, shades, and looks before committing to them. We were impressed with how this augmented reality feature actually offers a legit service — many times we've been underwhelmed with AR because it's usually just used for entertainment value and there's no actionable benefit (heh) offered.

Here's how it works: Go to BenefitCosmetics.com/brows [3] and select "Brow Try-On." From the interface, upload a photo or take one with your phone or computer camera — or try it live. It will ask you to indicate the start, arch, and tail of your brow, so adjust accordingly. Then it's time to play around. Select from 15 brow shapes and six different shades, which you make lighter or darker. You can also tailor the arch, thickness, definition, and placement of your brows. What we found helpful is that you can actually learn what looks best on you, and sometimes it's as simple as filling in your arch, or it can be more involved, like changing the placement of the brow.

Once you decide on a look, select the "Get This Brow" feature, which will tell you the exact look you've created and the products you need to achieve it, plus any services you might need to create or shape the brow.
