Best Body Lotion of 2009

The Votes Are In: Best Body Moisturizer Is...

Dry skin is always a big problem this time of year, and it makes us appreciate body moisturizers even more. This year, of the brands out there, Aveeno's gentle oat-based formulas had the most real estate in our readers' hearts and bathrooms.

As far as drugstore options go, we totally agree (the creamy moisturizing oil is amazing). At a higher price point, we really love Lavanila body butter ($25). It's free of the questionable chemicals common in a lot of cosmetics, smells great, and has the perfect texture.

Yoga--You sound like me! I find the lotion with SPF too thick so I actually use Coppertone hypoallergenic sun lotion with spf15 and use the lotion at night.

Aveeno is tested on animals. No thank you.

I have really sensitive skin and break out in rashes and hives, especially in the winter, and I love Aveeno products (their oatmeal bath is perfect for calmin my worst skin days). The only product I have any problem with is the Aveeno Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen. Any product with sunscreen causes my skin to feel like it's burning and turn red, but it goes away within a few minutes. A small price to pay for UV protection. I'm also a big fan of Burt's Bees Vitamin E oil after I shower.

nikkeeb--That's weird because I have both hyper-sensitive skin and eczema-proned skin and the only Aveeno products I've had reactions with are those with perfumes. I turn red when I put any product on my face, but it disappears within 30 seconds. Have either of you tried the Daily Moisturizing Lotion? That's the one I tried after reading people with my type of skin raving about it and I haven't looked back. If you're friend is allergic to oats, that would be the reason she turned red as oats are a major component of Aveeno as well as soy beans.

i've had burning sensations with some aveeno products - i think it's the "luminizing" glitter-like stuff they put in some of the products. meanwhile i had my friend buy an aveeno product after reading rave reviews about its sensitivity, and her entire face turned beet red shortly after applying it. so maybe a good moisturizer, but i wouldn't recommend it if you have sensitive skin

I love Aveeno's Daily Moisturizing lotion. I use it everyday for my hyper-sensitive, eczema-proned skin. It's so moisturizing.

I have to have something with shea butter. Pangea Organics is my absolute favorite, though it is not cheap. Dessert Essence also makes a really good and more reasonably priced shea butter body lotion.

I love this stuff. It has a great texture and rubs in really fast, but it doesn't dissipate after a few hours.

I like Aveeno lotion since I get the winter itch pretty bad. So far using EVOO (yes I smell like salad dressing but it dissipates) on damp skin. I almost purchased the hemp body butter from The Body Shop but I think it contains cocoa butter.

Maybe I'll try this. I use some Aveeno stuff already that I really enjoy, and I'm out of lotion and need to buy more!
