Just because it's Summer doesn't mean glowy should equal sweaty. When you sweat, you melt. Even the Wicked Witch over in Oz didn't want to melt, and she was perpetually green. So, what are the best beauty products to keep you looking provocatively dewy? Well, to start, anything waterproof. (Before you find out the hard way, keep in mind that the claims of water-resistant and long-lasting products will not work like waterproof will work).
A few of the listed top Summer products that will stand out against the weather can also be used in multiple ways.
- Primers: You need these for the face and, most importantly, for the eyes. For the face, keep it light and go for a product that won't feel heavy and that contains SPF, such as Miracle Skin Transformer Face SPF 20 ($48). For the eyes, Urban Decay Primer Potion ($20) is a Holy Grail of many and lasts forever. Make Up For Ever and Nars also make excellent eye shadow primers. One teeny tiny dab on each lid is all you'll need.
- Aqualillies For Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eye and Cheek Palette ($38): This disc is travel-friendly and contains three cheek products (blush, bronzer, and highlighter) and six shadows. Not only will it create a plethora of looks, but also, you can use the coordinating setting powder and liner (can also double as a shadow base) for a complete look. (Listen, if it's good enough for the Aqualillies, you can be sure it'll work for you).
- Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge ($24): This is the only lip product I've tried that will absolutely not come off. The glossy part will fade, but that is an easy, mirror-free fix. Make sure you let the lacquer set on your lips for a bit before you apply the initial coat of gloss. You can also dab this on the cheeks (carefully and lightly) to use as a blush.
- Nars Light Reflecting Setting Powder ($34): Set your makeup. Those sprays, they don't work on the oily folk. This setting powder is easy to dust over your foundation to keep makeup in place and cut back on reapplication. The pressed powder is more travel-friendly, but the loose powder will give you a more matte finish. Bonus: it also helps hide imperfections.
Remember, beauty mavens don't sweat . . . we glow.
