In my 23 years on this planet, I've been both a brunette and a blonde. The opposing styles supposedly go along with stereotypical personalities — if I had a dollar for every time someone asked me if I was "having more fun" after I dyed my hair platinum, I'd be having a whole lot of fun sailing around in the 40-foot yacht I could suddenly afford.
The point is, moods are more than your hair color, and clichés are silly. But a new type of bronde hair is currently trending, and the color has been perfected so well that it's impossible to conclusively call bronde strands either brunette or blond.
There's nothing new about bronde, the bronze hue [4] that's been trending for the past year or so. But where the OG bronde looks incorporated just balayage, newer styles now mix that trend with ombré, leaving the caramel gold tones so perfectly blended, the difference in colors is undecipherable.

As hairstylist Rita Hazan told us [7], "I think [bronde] has evolved by the variation of color, lighter and darker." To make the difference between colors indistinguishable, Hazan advised adding "subtle highlights to properly blend the look." Hazan also suggested asking your stylist for colors like "honey, toffee, or sun-kissed," since those toe the line between both hues.
Another reason to get this color? If you're lazy and proud, and you don't know when you'll book your next touch-up, then Hazan said bronde is the way to go. "This is a low-maintenance color," she said. Since the look is darker at the top than it is on the ends, you won't have to worry about pesky roots growing in. Plus, Hazan said that contrast "gives [the look] depth," especially if it matches your skin tone.
