DIY the Ultimate Cool-Girl Manicure: Camo Nails!

Apr 13 2015 - 3:00am

Army gear in the form of military jackets, lug-soled boots, and camouflage prints are Fall wardrobe staples. Bring this perennial trend to your nails with a classic mix of greens and khakis. While this look may seem complicated, the irregular shapes actually make this an easy design to DIY [1].

The Products

Base Coat: Essie First Base [2] ($9)

Base Color: The Body Shop Colour Crush Nail Polish in Almond Kiss [3] ($8)

Olive Green: The Body Shop Colour Crush Nail Polish in Almond Kiss [4] ($8)

Dark Green: Chanel Le Vernis in Mysterious [5] ($27)

Light Brown: Chanel Le Vernis in Khaki Rose

Topcoat: Essie Good to Go [6] ($9)

Nail Art: The Body Shop Nail Pen [7] ($6)

Step 1

For the base of this look, I chose to start with the khaki beige hue all over my nails.

Step 2

Next, I poured a little of the olive polish onto a piece of paper and dipped the metal tip of the dotting tool into the paint to create irregular shapes on my nails. Don't worry about the shape; the more irregular, the better!

Step 3

Fill in empty spaces with the dark green polish using the same dotting tool method. It's OK if the two green shades overlap.

Step 4

Finally, add the last shade, the light brown. Use this to fill in empty spaces, or just simply overlap any of the green shades. Be sure to leave some of the base color peeking through.

The Final Look

Seal everything in with a topcoat, and sport this camouflage look with anything — it's practically a neutral!
