The day after Halloween may involve candy hangovers for some of us, but in Mexican culture, and various cultures throughout the world, it's a time to pay tribute to the deceased. During Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), altars honoring loved ones are traditionally decorated with skulls and marigolds, and many of the living paint their faces in floral, skeleton-inspired designs.
