Did/Do You Have Braces?

Back in my early high school years, I rocked a mouthful of metal. In fact, my mom even got her bottom teeth realigned right along with me. Fortunately, my classmates didn't hassle me, calling out oh-so-original names like brace-face, railroad tracks, or tin-teeth. Kids can be so cruel.

I do wonder, however: how I did not get teased for sporting my school colors on the bands that lined each bracket? I cringe to think of how dorky that was. What about you? Did you have braces in the past, or are you perhaps wearing them now?

I've always wanted to have braces because I need them very bad. My teeth are very crooked and I'm extremely self-conscious about it. Especially the front two teeth. My teeth are my biggest insecurity. Both my parents don't want to invest it for me and they have both lied to me when I turned 16, that they would get it for me but that never happened. In the future when I'll get a real job, I'm going to get myself it for sure... Braces are life changing!!

Never had braces, ever. Mom had braces when she was growing up, but my dad never needed them, and well, I guess I inherited my father's teeth.

I'm 20 and I still have braces. Actually I've had them for a year now.. I believe I have 3 more months! Totally worth it. My teeth are looking incredible.

December 13, 2006 to May 6, 2009. I grew my hair out during that time, and when I got them off I went and cut all my hair off and donated it to Lock of Love.

I had them when I was 18. When they came off my teeth moved back to where they were (despite me wearing my retainer EVERY NIGHT) and I had to get them AGAIN when I was 22 :( I got the clear ones second time round though. I have to agree - totally worth it! :)

I got mine in October '98 (wow!)--but I just remember it was right before Halloween so I thought I would be super cool and get orange and BLACK rubberbands. Needless to say, my next ortho appointment wasn't until after Christmas-- so for an embarrassing 3 months and several holidays and birthdays, I rocked... orange and black. After that, I swore to only baby blue rubberbands.

Yup I did! I took them off a few months ago, so I am now wearing retainers. Wore them for quite a short period of time, always chose bright colours! :)

I had the worse overbite ever. Wore braces from the 6th through 8th grades and then the bottom only while I was in college. Best investment my parents made.

I had braces for SIX YEARS when I was a kid/ pre teen. yes, I had messed up teeth... but worth it now :) My husband just got Invisilign ... super pricey but I think it's worth it ... he's almost 30 and I understand that he doesn't want a mouth full of metal, esp. since he works w college kids.
