Do You Think Men Know When You Wear Makeup?

Time and time again, my guy friends tell me that they don't like it when women wear a lot of makeup. "I like natural faces," they insist. But the funny thing is, half the time they can't tell that I'm wearing makeup when they say this. Little tricks such as concealer and mascara look "real," so lots of my friends assume I just wake up looking bright-eyed. (Ha.) What about the men in your life — do you think they know when you wear makeup?

That's the problem with women always wearing make-up, guys just assume that's what we naturally look like, so if a girl likes to just go natural people think she looks weird!

I'm always wearing eyeliner and bright eyeshadow, as well as loads of jet black mascara. People can always tell when I wear foundation though, I've usually got a few acne spots showing when I'm clean skinned.

Everyone can tell! I don't wear much makeup daily - other than a little mascara, sheer lipgloss and once in a while blush. :)

I have four older sisters and younger brothers so they can tell when a girl wears makeup. Esspecially if they are wearing a lot, they'll say, She's wearing too much eye liner. And I'm like, Good job.

I don't think they notice natural-looking makeup like foundation (if it blends well) and mascara. Anything beyond that or brightly colored, my hubby noticed instantly.

bf assumes i'm wearing makeup, when i'm not most of the time. makes me wonder if i'm wasting time and money ON makeup..

i think they can learn...i think at first they just know that sometimes they see you and you suddenly look 'different'--because you've either just woken up, or just gotten all dolled up. but like a lot of the girls have said, after a while your boyfriend learns your routine and then he gets it (more or less).

all my ex boyfriends have known since they seemed to enjoy watching me apply it - they'd sit on the bed and watch... but I don't think guys really have any clue whether women do or not. I've had conversations where they pick out 'natural' looking women who are 'makeup free' and you'll be like, WHAT, she's wearing eyeliner, mascara, blush... the whole deal! I think they can easily pick it if the makeup is badly applied, brightly coloured or things like that but a really pretty natural look applied well - nope. They wouldn't know, although they might assume :)

I think guys know when I am wearing a lot of makeup, but when I have my usual natural look, I dont think it crosses my boyfriend's mind. Sometimes when I have on my Stila Illuminating Moisturizer, he'll say "you look so fresh faced today," and I'm like, "good, it's doing its job."

I've been told my make-up looks "really nice" by guys so alas...they know. :P In college, I wore VERY little make-up...mostly because I didn't know how to do fancy tricks, but also because I liked looking like I *didn't* wear any. One year for Halloween, I went as a British punk -- caked on tons of black eyeliner, hot pink eyeshadow, no blush, aiming for that "I slept in the gutter" look. No one recognized me, and one of my bosses said "I like when you wear make-up. You should do it more often." Whoa...WHAT? I mentioned the comment to a guy I was crushing on...and he said "But you always wear just enough, you look natural. You should never do this again!"

I think they can tell... Plus, without makeup, I am nearly transparent.

My boyfriend is the same--he often says he likes me without makeup, but has made the mistake of assuming I'm not wearing any when in actuality I am. He doesn't notice foundation or mascara.

I think guys notice eyeshadow, liner, and of course any color on the lips. I think that is about it though.

Most guys assume I always wear make-up ... but you can really tell when I am because I look glammed up instead of au natural.

My guy notices when I have lipstick or gloss on. Other than that, he'll notice an eyeshadow color now and then. He also claims that I don't need to wear any makeup at all.

I play with bright colors, jet black mascara, winged eyeliner, bright lips, dark, lips, so that stuff they notice but I dont need to wear foundation and I only wear blush/bronzer in a natural way. Its kinda hard to not notice it lol

I think men like to play stupid when it comes to makeup, so yes. I think they can tell you're wearing it even if they feign ignorance.

My husband makes comments all the time that I wear to much make up. Like my foundation. But when I only wear mascara and lip gloss. It don't know the difference.

My husband only notices if I am wearing a ton of eye makeup-- usually my makeup is very natural, and I don't wear eyeliner or dark eye shadow, so normally he can't tell the difference. When we first got married, he was shocked about what I do when I do makeup. He always tells me not to bother because I look great period.

there should be a "sometimes" option.

I don't wear a lot of make up on most days, so it can be noticeable if I'm going out somewhere nice. Usually they can tell when I'm not wearing mascara though because I have super blonde eyelashes that disappear without it!

I think a lot of guys just assume a girl is wearing make-up. I'd like to think most guys can tell though because as hard as we try, it never really ALL looks natural. I know my husband can tell when I am.
