Every bit helps I think. I try to as much as possible. It does aggravate me that there will always be some that don't...oh well.

When people say that it doesn't really matter what they do, because they're just one person, it's really annoying because if everyone decided to overhaul their attitude and do their bit it would make an enormous difference! But if everyone says, oh it's just me, that's just going to contribute to the problem.

I think that every effort made could help now and later. The materials will be reused or at least gotten rid of properly rather then letting it rot in a land fill where it will end up getting into the air.

I heard a statistic that recycling trucks pollute the earth more than recycling helps it.

We recycle our paper, glass, cardboard, garden bits wherever we can. We have seperate bins in the kitchen and our council collect our recycling once a fortnight. It helps to keep the main bin down and needing changed less often. ;p I don't mind if it doesn't do anything, we still do it anyway.

I'm lucky enough to live in a state where recycling is mandatory in most cities and it's very, VERY easy to do it. You almost can't NOT recycle. It's definitely an easy thing to do to help the environment. Interestingly, my husband's engineering trade magazines sometimes have articles in them about how future generations may start mining landfills for scrap aluminum and metals. That's kind of a cool concept, but it really makes you wonder just how many aluminum cans actually do end up in landfills.

I'm surprised when people complain that it's not easy. How is it not?? You just throw whatever into a different container!!!!! I've cut down on my trash SO MUCH since starting to recycle. It makes me feel good.

It really is difficult when OTHER PEOPLE around you don't recycle. My family has a "what's the point" attitude towards recycling. Sure it's not healthy...but they figure there's enough people recycling that we'll all be safe. I've finally got them started doing a bit...but it's hard going. I do what I can when I can. I guess every little bit helps...but it's still true that there's ALWAYS going to be people who don't care. Eh.

I know a girl who washes paper plates. WASHES PAPER PLATES!!! In trying to save paper, she's wasting water. There are lots of other examples of this ridiculousness. Just be smart. Use what you need, and be conscious of your choices. No need to go overboard with it by WASHING PAPER PLATES.

I believe every little bit counts (I recycle). To make things easier there are recycle organizers out there to use, and even trash can rollers so you can easily roll the recycle can out to the curb (or recycle area).

doing thing like recycling are so easy! I can't believe that some people are too lazy to take one extra step that can make such a big difference!

It's quite scary that 7 people picked the "what's the point" option. Recycling isn't difficult! It's about time more people have started to realize the damage we're doing to this planet, and taking steps to correct it.

It may not seem like much, but every little bit helps. What we're recycling isn't going into landfills. I like knowing I'm teaching my children good habits that will help make THEIR world a better place.

I have to say I just started recylcing at home this year (growing up I was in an area that it really wasn't an option) and it feels great! I'm getting pretty spastic about it too telling my roommates who go to throw somehting in the trash "WAIT! we can recycle that" :) and pulling bottles and things out of the trash when I see them at home. It may be a small step but it makes me wonder how much I alone have contributed to landfills in my 26 years.

YES! i think that everyone has to do their part since we have to make sure that there's there for future generations. even if that's ALL you do - at least it's something.
