I love the Smashbox product-- it covers up all imperfections and you literally look like a mannequin. However I only use it for special occasions since I find it clogs my pores. It's much better than Dr. Feelgood by Benefit, IMHO.

I like the MAC prep and prime, but have heard of Smashbox. Maybe when I run out of MAC, I will try it. Primer definately helps, even powder, stay put longer and have a more polished, finished look. I love it, but sometimes of everyday makeup I get lazy. I always use it for going out, big or special occassions.

I always will use a primer when I have my make up done for a special occassion --which is rare anyway(wedding, etc). Smashbox photofinish is great. I was in a wedding last weekend and the makeup artist used Aveda, but she was glad i brougth my own smashbox and it really helped keep the make up lasting all day, through the east coast humidity and heat. For someone who asked....i think the tinted is for people who have more reddish tones to their skin. I have the clear (and even with some red tones to my skin) it is fine for me.

I wear BE, for a more natural look, so I'm not a fan of liquid foundation and never use a primer. I'm almost afraid to use anything like that, my skin is so sensitive.

I think I understand primers but like so many here- I never heard of them before I got to this site. So the foundation/concealer lasts longer with primers??? Does it also even out the surface/texture??? Doesn't smashbox have photofinish in clear and in different colors? Should I get one that is clear or tinted? Who can enlighten me or should I ask on BPJ? HELP!

What's a primer, haha?? I've seen MAC primer's, yet I never knew what they were for...and I'm a make-up junkie too. ^__^;;

I wear Bare Escentuals and started using their primer called Prime Time. It is GLORIOUS!!! My makeup has never felt better!!! Skin Rever Upper is not a primer....its more of a moisturizer of sorts. Definitely try Prime Time....a little goes a long way with this stuff

I have tried Philosophy's, Smashbox and Dr Feelgood. My favorite is Smashbox all the way.

Does primer make a difference under powder foundation, like BE? I was thinking of trying Smashbox or Nars...

I don't use primer and I never use liquid foundation (I hate the way it feels!). I like to just dust on some pressed powder with a big brush. Nice and light! Then I blend into my hairline and neck with my fingers a little bit. I'm curious about primer though. I might try some. Any good suggestions? It doesn't clog pores does it? I don't want to get acne from it!

A primer is a product that goes a step further than the simple moisturiser : it creates a certain wall between your skin and foundation. Call it a "make-it-better" wall : your skin is fully protected, it's easier to applicate your foundation and they make the foundation remain longer and better on your skin. I personnally never use primers since my skin is quite ok and only gets a bit of Prada powder daily : no real foundation needed here!

See I have never heard of a primer till i started on this site but I keep hearing about how good it is. I am starting to get a T-Zone at the end of the day will it help with this? What will help ?

Does Bare Minerals' Skin Revver-Upper count as a primer? If so, then yes!

I use tinted moisturizer, but I do use a toner before hand to even out my skin tone. Besides, with summer here...I tend to wear as little makeup as possible. But I still have to have my tinted moisturizer, mascara and lip gloss.

It's summertime so all I am wearing is concealer.

I actually just started using Benefit's Dr. Feel Good, and I really like it. The trick is to use just a tiny bit, and blend it with your fingers instead of the sponge that comes with it.

i used to use Mac prep and prime but because of my oily complexion it just didnt work well with my skin and my makeup wouldnt set right on my face.

There are some incredible primers out now and I usually end up wearing a primer only with no foundation or powder over it.
