The Easiest Way to Tackle Valentine's Day Nail Art

The Easiest Way to Tackle Valentine's Day Nail Art

The following post was written by Alison L., who blogs at Alison*Elle and is part of POPSUGAR Select Beauty.

As a lover of all things cute and girlie, Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays (or pseudo-holidays, for the Hallmark cynics among us) for themed nail art. After all, when is it going to be more appropriate for a person of any age to be sporting hearts all over their tips?

Get your own adorable manicure in just a few easy steps:

1. Start with a base coat like Avon Nail Experts Gel Strength Base Coat ($4).

2. Paint on your base color. Pick something that pairs with the other colors you're planning on using since this will form the foundation of your manicure. I used Essie My Better Half ($9).

3. Now for the fun part! Using some nail art pens like Avon Nail Art Enamel ($6) in coordinating colors (red and pink are obvious traditional Valentine's choices), start creating some cute designs. Hearts are supereasy (just draw a "v" shape and fill in the tips a bit to make them rounder), but you could also experiment with writing, lips, arrows, etc. You can keep each nail the same, but I personally like to try something a bit different on each nail.

4. Top with a protective top coat like Avon UV Gloss Guard Top Coat ($7).

Happy Valentine's Day!
