Is Eva Mendes' Banned Perfume Ad Too Sexy For TV?

Well, as it turns out, Eva Mendes is too sexy for her shirt. As previously reported, her 30-second commercial for Calvin Klein Secret Obsession was banned in the United States. Well, no doy — there's areola in this clip! (It's not raunchy, but it's NSFW.)

Personally, I think it's beautifully shot (and that it was cleverly created to drum up "controversy") but c'mon, Calvin — everyone knows you can't show certain body parts on the, uh, boob tube. Do you think this ad should be allowed on television, or does it cross that line?

Also, on the topic of this particular ad, no, it doesn't do anything for me, and I think Eva is beautiful. The Chanel ads with Kiera speak to me more with the playful sassiness, but to each her own.

Actually, it's a brilliant move. People in the States will want to watch it on the Internet because it's banned, as all of us just did. Americans are so weird about sex. We use it to sell EVERYTHING, yet we act like it doesn't exist.

First, I think the commercial is beautiful (note that I find all perfume commercials a bit silly). Second, are you kidding me? I wouldn't care if my children saw this commercial. Its two seconds of nipple. Sometimes I really hate living in America.

Nothing Bearwoman - it just appeared that some people were comparing nipples to corpses and I believe it was banned because of sex not morbidness (if that's a word). Like others stated who cares it was boring, hubby said he'd rather cut his toenails than watch that stupid ad.

You Tube banned it. So, I had to know, and I found it here: http://www.break.com/index/eva-mendes-banned-commerical.html But, it was boring and I don't see why you tube took it down. I see why it shouldn't be allowed on TV, but if they edit out the nipple it would be fine.

I think these marketing people HAD to include the nip otherwise there would be no press or attention for this bland ad. no way will this get shown on tv in the u.s., the fcc is way too alert after the superbowl thang.

Hm I don't really like these types of ads, but I could see it being aired in my country (the Netherlands). There's an ad right now on TV that features a woman sitting on top of a man (topless), supposedly having sex and screaming his name. But then she doesn't say his name but says 'thingy' (he was so irrelevant, so she forgot his name, and the message of the ad is that you should send many many text messages so that you stay popular!) Although you only get a glimpse of the woman, I think it's crossing the line. Anyways, im rambling. Point is, I've seen worse.

Class has been taken to new low. If I wanna see nipples I'll look at my own and corpse versus nipple - well not many people I know get aroused by looking at a corpse, maybe that's the difference.

nothing new here. But I think it was never intended for TV, these days viral marketing counts for a lot. I mean think about it..it got plenty of exposure here and it didn't cost him a dime in Sugar advertising. :P

The ad is just okay, its annoying how she repeats the same thing over and over. I know that's the stick of Obsession but its just not very interesting. I think its a little innapropriate for TV, especially the part where you can see her areola. I don't have a problem with adults seeing it, but I don't think it should be necessarily displayed in front of young children. Its not that children should be ashamed about their bodies but there are certain things you don't need to see at a young age.

i didnt see the add. in my opinion, simulated sex (or exotic dancing or mastubating) might be giving the the wrong message. But the NIPPLE should not be the problem.

I don't care until I think about my six year old cousins watching this, or the kids I babysat...then it's like oh God no. You have to remember TV is one of the biggest influences on this generation, and it reaches a hell of a lot of kids.

I like the ad, but I can see why its not allowed on TV. However, if it wasn't for that split second of nipple, I'd think it was fine.
