Once again a major celebrity — none other than model of the moment Gigi Hadid — proved that braids are still a hot Summer trend. To host the iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards in Toronto [1], she sported three different plaited looks [2] all in one night.

First, she walked the red carpet in a fierce Mugler suit [3] and bohemian long braid. It extended to her bum, reminding us of Rapunzel's lengthy locks. What gave it cool factor was the effortless looseness of the braid [4]. Flyaways casually fell around her face and the braid started pretty low on her nape (rather than high on her head like a french braid would).

Later in the show, she moved to a high-plaited ponytail. It looked sporty and festive for the stage. And by the end of the evening, she wrapped the braid around her head to create a braided bun [5]. All of these styles are great for elegant events (they can make a gown feel less fussy) or pool parties (to keep your strands out of your face).
