Girl Gets Surgery to Look Like Jessica Alba For Boyfriend 2010-02-04 14:00:03

This Girl Is Getting Plastic Surgery to Look Just Like Jessica Alba

This is all kinds of depressing. A 21-year-old woman had been dating an Alba-obsessed guy who demanded she try to look just like her. (Ever the gentleman, he bought her a blond wig to wear.) Given the stress and general screwed-up nature of trying to look like someone else constantly, our heroine broke things off with him.

Now, though, she wants him back. Her plan: get plastic surgery to look more like Jessica Alba. And if that doesn't get him back, she thinks she'll just work on moving on. The dude in question is clearly a loser who doesn't deserve to be dating anyone, let alone a Jessica Alba look-a-like. I worry about this young woman, who deserves to be appreciated for the beauty that she already is. And clearly, she needs to develop more self-esteem. Watch and sigh.

I don't think she did, no.

How tragic.

This is terrible! A guy should think she is beautiful no matter what. What a loser (the guy)!

umm, she's asian. features are totally off if she wants to look like jessica alba. At least the surgeon is smart and I really hope he told her exactly what he said in the video. Poor girl, and so young!

She's going to regret having gone through with it. So sad.

Ridiculous. She's setting herself up for a broken heart (and bank account). Celebrities are primped and preened and made-up to look a certain way in photos and on film (especially in films). Jessica Alba doesn't roll out of bed ready for the red carpet. And as beautiful as she may be, she's not going to look that way forever. What happens when this boyfriend moves on to the next pretty young starlet? This is not a girl who is really excited to undergo these procedures because this is what she really wants. This is a girl who looks and sounds depressed and should not be going under the knife for a boyfriend who is borderline abusive taking advantage of this girl who is vulnerable to his manipulation.

Sounds like the type of guy who ends up stalking a celeb. It was never going to be enough for a gf to try to look like her. He wants Jessica Alba. It's just sad she wants to hold onto him by getting surgery. And he probably won't make it work because in the end he is obsessed. Obsession leads to madness. Pretty sick how people think .

She kind of already looks like an asian Jessica Alba. But seriously I hope she does get the therapy she obviously needs.

I recall seeing a TV show that featured a man that got plastic surgery in order to resemble Drew Carey. Unfortunately for him, he ended up looking like Tom Arnold. Seriously though, she would be better off if she got the therapy necessary to feel comfortable being herself. Don't ever change yourself to please other people.

It was good to hear the surgeon say that he can smooth her skin and balance her features but that they need to deal with the psychological side of her wanting to look like Jessica Alba. It's still awful and sad.

This is depressing, I hope that she gets a good therapist and new friends.

Statistically, there's no way to know how many people go through with cosmetic surgeries just to appease a significant other. It may be more common than we think, it's just not reported as this case was. It is sad, but in reality, there is so much emphasis put on outer appearance. Girls are encouraged to have confidence, yet their role models are actresses and fashion models. It's a contradiction.

I have to agree that it's good (at the very least) that the surgeon has enough sense to see that this girl needs therapy. She definitely does, and while I understand her "right" to do what she wants with her face, it's still so sad. Nothing worse than a boyfriend who wants you to drastically change how you look for him.

Yes, she's a willing participant in all of this, but it doesn't make me feel any less depressed about the situation. It's heartbreaking that she doesn't like herself enough to tell the doofus guy to shove it in the first place, and that now she's trying to change her appearance to win him back. I don't think she's a loser, I just think she has low self-esteem. I think she needs therapy, support, and better friends in her life. If I were a plastic surgeon, there's NO way I'd take her on as a client. Her reasons for getting surgery are flimsy. And, duh, it's not like the ex is going to get back with her. Even if he DID, he's a tool and you just know he'd find something else "wrong" with her. I am also fascinated, both in this case and others, by the whole surgery-as-empowerment thing. If you're general happy with who you are but aren't crazy about your ears or nose or whatever, then fine, have at it. No judgments on my part. But it seems to me that this girl is parroting the "I do it for ME!" line when clearly, she's doing it to try to be loved by the Alba-obsessed creepy ex. Like others of you have said, depressing. Agreed that she could benefit from the services of a good therapist.

What this girl needs, she's not going to get from plastic surgery. She needs at least two things, better friends and a therapist. I used to work at Hooters in college for easy money and a flexible schedule...and I could not believe the amount of girls who wanted a boob job or a whatever job when they looked perfectly fine. I knew there would be some, but not that many. Girls, it's not your looks that are killing you! It's your insecurity. Own it, work it, and be happy! There are much worse things in life...

Im glad the surgeon had some sense when he said that he could help with clearing her complexion or balancing some features, but if she wanted to look completely like another person, that needs psychological help. I hope he actually follows through with that and helps the poor girl get the therapy she needs.

I saw this on a different website. She is pretty with her naturally dark hair. Only a jerk of a boyfriend would try to change her and only a girl with a low self-esteem would let him

I didn't view the video, but since it's called PLASTIC SURGERY it's appropriate you end up looking PLASTIC, since it's now gone totally overboard I've renamed it STUPID SURGERY. You gotta be pretty stupid to listen to what your SO wants and at 21 to alter your body in any way, shape or form is just ludicrous. I hope I'm around in 50 years so I can see all these freaks and how they have benefited from this trend. Anyone hear about Pam Anderson hawking her perfume in Rite Aid? Yes, that's the benefits of STUPID SURGERY!
