Hairy Espresso Cup From Etsy

Is Hair Art Fascinating, or Does It Fall Flat?

While perusing Etsy, I encountered this piece called Hairy expresso [sic] coffee cup ($50). Its creator clearly isn't afraid to make some interesting aesthetic choices, but it left me wondering just who the target buyer is for works that use real people's tresses. Hair as a design material has been all over the place as of late, but I'm not sure just how widespread its popularity really is. So what do you think? Do you think hair art is interesting, or do you give objets d'art that use human hair a pass?

Super gross, holy shit, I can't believe two people voted 'love it.'

Hair. Is. Gross. It is covered in bacteria and should be nowhere near food. On top of that, whose hair was used? I'd be very squicked out about having a piece of art in my home that had a stranger's hair on it.
