See Decades of Nigerian Hairstyles With This Mesmerizing Video

Much like Cut Video's 100 Years of Beauty series [1], the bloggers behind Black and Beautiful [2] have released a new video that goes through decades of Nigerian hairstyles.

The various natural 'dos [3] shown in the video range from the lush Afros [4] popularized in the 1950s to the more intricate "Onile Gogoro" style from the '70s. The latter holds a particularly powerful backstory: "Onile Gogoro" translates to "standing tall," and this look was actually used as a representation of strength and independence from British rule.
