There is nothing more perfect than glowing skin during the Summer; healthy skin that is well looked after will radiate naturally. Before proceeding with your makeup, eliminate dead skin cells and dullness with a gentle scrub and toner. To get a natural-looking glow, apply a highlighting cream or powder to the high points of the face. This is best for oily skin types. If you have dry skin, you can amp up the glow factor even more without risking going overboard. A layer of a luminous primer before your foundation will work wonders. These versatile primers can be mixed with your foundation or used to highlight specific areas of the face.
- A liquid or powder highlighter: for liquid options, try Benefit High Beam ($26) or Moon Beam ($26), and for a powder option, go with Dior Shimmer Star in Amber Diamond ($45).
- A luminous primer or multipurpose base: L'Oréal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer ($13), Benefit Girl Meets Pearl ($30), or the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors ($41 each).
- Your favorite foundation.
Step 1. Choose the intensity of your glow. Mixing a luminous primer with your foundation will give you maximum radiance. Applying a thin a layer of primer prior will give you a subtle luminosity that peeks through your foundation.
Step 2. If you have dry skin, apply a dewy foundation like MAC Face and Body ($27) or L'Oréal True Match Lumi ($13). If you have oily skin, choose a foundation with a satin or matte finish, such as Nars Sheer Matte ($44).
Step 3. Using a shimmery powder or the same illuminating base from step one, highlight the areas of the face where sunlight would naturally hit: the bridge of the nose, the cupid's bow, and the top of the cheekbones.
