How to Treat Adult Acne

A Top Dermatologist Dishes on Adult Acne

Nobody likes dealing with acne, especially when you're an adult. (Weren't our prime years of breaking out supposed to end in high school?) But the truth is, acne can occur at any age for a whole slew of reasons, even if you never broke out as a teenager. Luckily, this common complexion issue can be treated over time. Celebrity dermatologist Dr. Susan Evans explains the hows and whys of adult acne — along with over-the-counter and prescription solutions for this problem. Watch this video to find out more.

Hi @CalidaA. She is pretty, right? She actually told me she dealt with adult acne for a while too...hard to believe when you see how pretty her skin is now! Thanks for watching. @CurlyGirl24, she didn't say a specific sunblock or makeup, but she did say to make sure they are all oil-free. For sunblock, I really like Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock. It's a good price, oil-free, and it feels really light under makeup. Hope that helps!

Dr. Evans mentioned using the right sunblock and makeup. Did she have any suggestions?

Hi Andrea81, Retin A or retinoic acid is what stops oil. You can get it in some drugstore products like RoC's Correxion line, but to get a really strong dosage of it, you have to get a prescription. Sometimes all you need is a little though because it can dry the skin. It works wonders! @Bryseana, I get stress-related breakouts all the time! Sucks. And @Advah, if you haven't broken out yet, then you're probably all good! Just don't stress about it because THAT might make you break out. Thanks for watching!

"acne can occur at any age for a whole slew of reasons, even if you never broke out as a teenager"OMG please don't say that. I'm so grateful I've never had to battle with acne, and now I feel I've been jinxed!
