Perhaps you were gifted a beautiful new makeup palette for the holidays, or maybe you already have a whole slew of eye shadow palettes in your beauty stash. And isn't it a darn shame that some of these shades get used right down to the tin, while others remain untouched until you inevitably decide to toss them? That's why I asked celebrity makeup artist and Avon global creative color director, Jillian Dempsey, what to do about these overlooked colors — the colors that aren't always all that bad, just misunderstood. To see what she said, just keep reading.
Start with a nylon brush with loose hairs at the end. Then, dip it into color you would never wear followed by a color you would wear. "Blending is the key to getting a really cool-looking eye," says Jillian. By mixing it up a bit, "you can come up with your own customized tone, and I really think that’s a good way to try and use some of the shades that just never are used," she adds. So the next time you're met with a puce-tone shadow, give Jillian's technique a try. You never know what you will come up with.
