Isabel Lucas, (Adrian Grenier's special ladyfriend) looked red hot at the 134th Kentucky Derby horse races on Saturday afternoon. The Derby is always a grand affair with the ladies arriving in stately hats, Spring dresses, and of course, perfect Southern makeup.
What I like most about Isabel's look is that it's not overdone. She chose one feature to accentuate, and everything else is in soft focus. For product and application suggestions so that you can re-create this makeup look at home,
- FACE: Since your skin should look hydrated and smooth, make sure that you wash, exfoliate, and moisturize before you begin. Then, apply a mineral powder foundation such as Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Matte Finishing Veil, and dab concealer under your eyes and to any red areas. Lastly, use your big fluffy powder brush to buff out the concealer.
- CHEEKS: With a gentle hand, add a touch of mocha (a pinky brown) powder blush like Lancôme Blush Subtil Shimmer in Shimmer Mocha Havana to your cheekbones. Don't go for anything too bright or too bronze, and remember to blend.
- EYES: Sweep a cream-colored eyeshadow all over your eyelids and apply a shimmery taupe shade in the crease. Next, add a little bit of highlighter under the brow bone. Fill in your brows so that they look strong, but not fake looking. Add black liner along your top lashes creating a subtle wingtip on the ends, and finish with one coat of black mascara.
- LIPS: Outline the rim around your lips with a neutral or clear lip pencil such as DuWop Reverse Lip Liner (this will help prevent your lipstick from bleeding). Then, line your lips with a red lip liner and fill them in lightly (this will help make your lipstick last longer). Then, using a lip brush, apply a true, creamy red lipstick such as Vincent Longo Velvet Riche Rejuvenating Lipstick in Fore-Plush to your lips. Blot, reapply, and . . . smile.
