Janelle Monáe just rocked an eye-conic look. The musician is known to have fun with her hair [1], but she took it to the next level by rocking googly eyes (like from the '90s) in double buns. It perfectly complemented her polka-dotted Kate Spade coat [2]. (This is not the first time she wore space buns [3], BTW.)

Stylist Nikki Nelms created this kitschy look, which Janelle wore on NBC shows, including Today and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon [4] on Dec. 20.

"I see you all these eyes around my head," Janelle said [5] while hanging out with Nikki in an Instagram video. "I see you (points)."

She also captioned a photo [6], "Even when I'm sleeping, I keep 20 eyes open."

If you want to DIY [7] this style at home, try gluing googly eyes to bobby pins and sticking them into your topknot, double buns, etc.
