I Tried the KKW Beauty Glam Bible, and Now I Know What Sexy Feels Like

Nov 26 2018 - 7:00am

"Sexy" is a loaded word, but to me, it's confidence and magnetism — everything that Kim Kardashian West emanates [1]. When she released her KKW Beauty Glam Bible Bundle [2] ($150) that allows you to re-create her sultry neutral-toned looks, I immediately wondered how that would translate on me.

The kit equips you with everything you need to embody the word: a six-pan eyeshadow palette [3], two lipsticks, a gloss, lip liner, highlighter [4], blush, and — newly introduced to KKW Beauty — the line's first kohl eyeliner and mascara. (Most items can be purchased separately from the box set.) Read on to learn more about my experience with the each of them.

KKW Beauty Eyeshadow Palette Smokey Volume I

Once I finished putting on my base — a combination of BB Cream and the KKW Beauty Powder Contour and Highlight Kit in Medium — I flipped open the kit, pulled out her the mini KKW Beauty Eyeshadow Palette Smokey Volume I [5] ($30), and began blending the matte brown (Exotic) and matte gray (Antique) into my crease, laying down layers of the muted rose (Risque) and eggshell (Femme) toward the center of my lid, and blurring it all together with the glittery silver (Fatale). Yes, I have just condensed my eye look how-to into one diluted sentence, but I assure you, to get the Kim Kardashian [6] sultry rose smoky eye takes moxie [7]. I still don't know if I've got it down, but luckily, the powders are buildable and blendable, though you might have to be careful of fall-out.

KKW Beauty The Glam Bible Eyeliner

Once I finished laying down the foundation for a seductive eye look, I pulled out the parts of the kit that I was most excited about: West's first-ever mascara and eyeliner. The KKW Beauty Glam Bible Eyeliner [8] ($10) was a creamy kohl pencil of a true black shade that slipped across my eyelids and waterline with little to no tug.

KKW Beauty Glam Bible Mascara

The KKW Beauty Glam Bible Mascara [9] ($18) truly wowed me in how it lengthened and defined my lashes with just a few swipes.

KKW Beauty Lashes

As if the mascara wasn't enough, to add volume, I placed KKW Beauty Lashes (only available in KKW Beauty Glam Bible Bundle [10], $150) onto my lids. The flexible, wispy set was very easy to work with and — despite how long they were — looked natural.

KKW Beauty Glam Bible Lip Liner

The next part of the kit I tackled was lips. I lined mine with the KKW Beauty Glam Bible Lip Liner [11] ($12), a rose-colored pencil with a buttery texture.

KKW Beauty Glam Bible Creme Lipstick in Classic Icon I

I then filled in my lips with the mauve-brown KKW Beauty Glam Bible Creme Lipstick in Classic Icon I [12] ($18). The formula was extremely emollient, yet stayed in place and didn't feather. The shade itself was also one I'd consider a nude for my caramel-colored medium skin tone.

[Editor's note: Individually sold Glam Bible Creme Lipsticks are labeled differently, with Classic Icon I as the lighter shade of the two.]

KKW Beauty Glam Bible Creme Lipstick in Classic Icon II

KKW Beauty Glam Bible Creme Lipstick in Classic Icon I [13] ($18) was a peach-pink. While its texture was equally pleasant on my lips, it proved to be a little too light on my medium skin tone.

KKW Beauty Glam Bible Gloss

The formula of the lipsticks had a satin finish with some shine, so I didn't think it needed a gloss. Though, if you wanted one, West added the warm, peach-pink KKW Beauty Glam Bible Gloss [14] ($18) to the set. But be warned, it can feel a little sticky.

KKW Beauty Glam Bible Blush

Finally, it was time to finish off my complexion. I swept the KKW Beauty Glam Bible Blush [15] ($18) onto the contours of my cheeks. The blush was a shade similar to the Risque pan in the eye shadow palette.

KKW Beauty Glam Bible Highlighter

I lightly swirled the KKW Beauty Glam Bible Highlighter [16] ($20) onto my cheekbones with a fluffy brush. The highlighter went on subtly to give a reflective, non-glittery finish.

The Final Look

West has succeeded in pulling together all the tools you need to feel sexy into one nude-pink box. If I were to name the highlights, it would have to be the amazing new mascara, the creamy, nude-toned lipstick that was perfect on my caramel skin, and the hundreds of selfies I now have in my camera roll.
