Kat Von D Beauty is rolling out even more vegan products, starting with the Go Big or Go Home Mascara [1] ($23), and now the limited-edition Vegan Love Eyeshadow Palette [2] ($43). Although I'm all for the idea of animal-byproduct-free beauty products and always prefer my personal care products to be cruelty-free, I sometimes am skeptical that vegan versions will be as good their regular counterparts.

Thankfully, Kat Von D Beauty [3] is proving me wrong. My coworkers have been raving about the mascara [4], and after trying the eye shadow palette, I'm hopping on the vegan makeup bandwagon. Each brightly colored pan in the set can be applied with a brush or your fingers for extra pigmentation and blends easily on the lids. I was surprised by how vivid the yellow shade (Activist) and red shade (Mercy) showed up and even more happy once I tried out a look on myself.

I decided to blend the blue hue (Sanctuary) in the inner corner of my eye and fade it into purple (Empathy), then finally the red shade (Mercy). I swiped a little of the brown (Species) into my crease and watched the colors seamlessly meld together. Now that I've been converted into a vegan makeup fan, I can't wait to continue to experiment with the bold colors in the palette.
