Kim Kardashian's Stylist Reveals All About Her New Blonde Hair

Lots of celebrities see Fashion Week as an opportunity to debut a new look — and Kim Kardashian really went for a big transformation. She's been seen around Paris wearing a large, hair-hiding hat and a smile that says, "I know something you don't know!" But now, the secret's out! The formerly raven-haired Kim was spotted front row at Balmain with platinum-blonde strands.

Kim and her hair escapades have tricked us before, but this is the real deal. Kim cited longtime friend and makeup artist Joyce Bonelli as her inspiration to go blonde. Stylist Gregory Russell is responsible for her chic new cut, while colorist Lorri Goddard was the one to bring Kim's superdark strands all the way up to a pale platinum in one try. Bleaching dark hair like Kim's can be a challenge, as it can turn orange or cause major damage, but clearly the color job was a great success.

Goddard's main concern was how difficult it is to take a deep brunette, like Kim, to platinum. "It shifts the condition of the hair, but the hair can be kept strong if the proper conditions are taken," she said. In terms of the process, she recommends always starting with a test strand to see if the hair is strong enough to take the "platinum journey."

"Since the scalp exudes heat, which quickens the process, always begin the hair processing away from the scalp, and start working with the ends first," said Goddard. To keep the integrity of your hair after lifting the hair this light, stay away from the heat. "It's imperative to not use straightening irons every day," said Goddard. "Use low-heat styling tools, and use moisturizing shampoo and conditioning products."
