Makeup Color Trends For Fall 2009

What Of-the-Moment Color Inspires You the Most?

Ever since I was a wee one, I've been fascinated with color, to the point where I would study fabric swatches for hours, while my aunts shopped for patterns, notions, and the like. So much of the cosmetics industry is influenced by fashion, so each season, beauty brands look to fashion forecasts, like Pantone, the big guns in the world of color swatches. From trendy nail polish shades (more on that later) to lipstick colors to eye shadow palettes, there's no doubt that we'll see some influence from the runway. In its annual Fashion Color Report, Leatrice Eiseman of the Pantone Color Institute said, "The Fall 2009 palette is more unique and thoughtful than the typical Autumnal hues of years past." Looking at the swatches below from the company's report, which one can you most likely see yourself wearing for the upcoming season?

Honey yellow, warm olive and creme brulee for eyeshadow... those, purple heart (with a very pale neutral eyeshadow) majolica blue (with neutral eyeshadow if I wanted to be daring) and iron for eyeliner... the pinky ones for lips... heck, I could find a place for all of 'em!

I enjoyed the story behind the colours. Being an aspiring Forecaster, it's nice to me to see that it's being reported to the masses on a regular basis.

I have to pick? I would love warm olive on my nails (yellow based nail polish looks great on my yellow based skin). I like burnt sienna or American beauty on my lips. Burt sienna on my cheeks, and Majolica creme brulee and iron on my eyes. Honey would make a nice gloss, and I could also see the blue on my nails.

I like Burnt Sienna, Honey Yellow, Warm Olive, Creme Brulee and Majolica Blue. The rest just would not work with my skin tone. Fall is my favorite time of year - can't wait!

oh my, my hubby and I just bought a house and these little blocks of color reminded me of picking paint colors (which is quite a chore!) For fall makeup, my favorites are Iron, Nomad, Creme Brulee...and I love the Burnt Sienna! In clothing, I could dig any of them!

Yes, bellasugar, I am. I've found more appreciation for this season than any other. I used to be a Winter's girl. Now, Autumn's my friend.

I adore the "American Beauty" color. I have a few things in that shade and I'd love more. It's a fun color that's a little more than meets the eye. I also could see myself in "Purple Heart", "Rapture Rose", and the blue which are interesting colors. Plus the cream color is a great addition to any of the more brighter ones to play with tones.

Purple heart, honey yellow and iron have been a big part of my makeup palette the past two falls. I could do clothes and accessories in all of these colors though :)

I'm feeling American Beauty and Rapture Rose. I have to say though, I wear the same color families all year long.

I'm loving honey yellow! I just bought the cutest scoop neck sweater in that shade and I can't wait to pair it with an iron-colored wool skirt!

I have been ALL about the "warm olive" (or even, "toned-down lime") for some time now...for clothes, not makeup, however. I think something burnt sienna-like will appear on my nails at some point.
