Marilyn Monroe Named Greatest Blonde of All Time 2010-08-25 13:00:24

Guess Who's Been Named the Greatest Blonde of All Time

When you think of blondes, is anyone more iconic than Marilyn Monroe? According to a poll commissioned by Clairol Nice 'n Easy, Marilyn is considered to be the greatest blonde of all time. "It's amazing to think that even now, almost half a century after her death, she has still beaten modern blondes to the top spot," said a spokesperson for Clairol.

Do you think she's the greatest, or should someone else have nabbed the top spot? The survey's complete list leans heavily British, featuring more than a few blondes we haven't heard of — along with some glaring omissions, such as Nico. Tell us your favorite in the comments, and check out the complete list when you read more.

Two days after my comment, and I'm still baffled as to how Jean Harlow didn't make this list.

Jean Harlow seriously should be on the list.

no gwyneth? blanchett? zellweger? drew barrymore? kate hudson? reese witherspoon? michelle williams? jodie foster? marilyn is synonymous with blonde bombshell-- all the others have a wider range. many of the other options either didn't stand out well or stood out well in other shades as well. marilyn was blonde all the way

Marilyn is hands down the most iconic! It's one of the few hairstyles people always associate with one person

I have to agree about Gwyneth Paltrow too-I also think Twiggy should have been on the list

I also am questioning the fact that Harlow is absent from this list...?!

Forgot to add Edie Sedgwick should be on the list…

Marilyn is the best—it has a lot to do with her iconic charisma (like Elvis had). I don't think Stevie Nicks belongs on the list at all…

I like how you mentioned Nico as one of the omissions and I DO agree that she would have been a good choice but I don't know if she's that well known with the masses. And I'm good with Marilyn Monroe being number one and also think Jean Harlow should be on it. If I made my own list, there would probably be pretty much no modern choices. It's a shame I don't see Catherine Deneuve listed.

How did Jean Harlow not make this list? Seriously!? If I hear the word "Iconic blonde", my first thought would probably also be Marylin Monroe... but I thought Jean Harlow would be second place... or at least in the top 5!

I don't think Nico would deserve a spot on the list. So, I'll have to disagree with bellasugar there. But, those on the list are spot-on. I don't think Cameron and Scarlett should be so high up though.

Honestly, I think that early britney should be on here. Obviously she's had her issues, but she's pretty iconic.

Ha! That's funny. Lots of blondes have been "hitting the bottle," so to speak, so you're definitely not alone.

Love it! when i first dyed my hair blonde so many people told me i'm not a real blonde, i'm not a blonde, simply because it's not my "natural" haircolor.. So i told them to list me some blondes they know. celebrity blondes. they were always hesitant, so i just went on and started naming them.. marilyn monroe? natural brunette. Paris hilton? yes. Britney Spears? uh-huh. Gwen Stephanie? Yep. Madonna? of course! etc. Yea, that was enough to put them in their place. And this.. this is pure blonde pride right here! Hurray us!
