A few weeks ago, I binged the first three seasons of the Canadian comedy Schitt's Creek [1] — season four is currently airing on the Pop TV network in the US — and I was struck by a few things:
- Dan Levy [2] (Eugene Levy's on- and offscreen son) has better eyebrows than I could ever dream to have.
- Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy will never not be funny together.
- The makeup department is on POINT.
Regarding that last bullet, I have not been able to stop staring at Moira's lips. As a former soap star, Moira (O'Hara) has a flair for the dramatic, and her Taylor Swift-worthy [3] lip color is no exception. I have missed whole storylines trying to figure out what orange-red lipstick she's slathered on, and it led me down a rabbit hole.
Eventually, the network's PR team pointed me to an interview with O'Hara's personal makeup artist [4], Lucky Bromhead [5]. In it, she spells out exactly what she uses for Moira's lips — it's actually a combination of two products, and one is pretty surprising.
MAC Lip Pencil in Spice
Bromhead said she uses MAC Lip Pencil in Spice [6] ($15) to start, clarifying that she overdraws the lips and excludes the cupid's bow. It's a much lighter, pinker color than I would have anticipated.
MAC Lipstick in Dubonnet
Once the lips are outlined, she fills them in with MAC Lipstick in Dubonnet [7] ($18). This is the elusive shade I've been searching for!
