Product alteration is becoming a big issue on this side of the pond as well. This month, the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (the NAD for short) announced that Cover Girl is discontinuing Taylor Swift's ads for NatureLuxe mascara because the claims the ads made couldn't be substantiated, and the images were deemed misleading. Given all the extreme mascara retouching in ads over the last couple of years, it will be interesting to see whether this marks the beginning of a crackdown on unrealistic results in beauty advertisements.
