New Product Alert: Ted Gibson Professional Flat Iron

I love it when stylists I love come out with products that I love! The friendly and fabulous hair guru Ted Gibson has just released a brand-new heated hair-styling tool called the Ted Gibson Professional Flat Iron ($225). This fabulous straightener is worth every penny (and I totally understand this is a lot of pennies)! According to the company's press release, Gibson believes:

"Styling tools are a stylist's life blood; that they are work-horses and they must be maximum quality. And, of course, they are also very important for most women at home as they try to recreate what we do in the chair.”

Ted has been searching for a fab flat iron for quite some time. He was repeatedly let down by the the tools he was testing out and decided that if he wanted the best, he would have to make it himself.

The Ted Gibson Professional Flat Iron is made from ceramic tourmaline and heats anywhere from 140 to 450 degrees. What's great is that the iron includes an automatic sense control system, so that you don't fry your hair. You can now create straight hair or curls, and — this is big — it can be used on damp or dry hair!

There's nothing wrong about using a flat iron on wet hair, I do that almost all the time and it never hurt my hair. Just be sure to put a little serum or anything before, and you're good to go :)

I have very thick coarse hair and I have the Paul Mitchell flat iron and it is very tiny and brite green plates. It is my lil miracle worker. It too has a temp gauge that you can crank or back off. It doesnt have any other bells or whistles but it straightens my hair! Which had yet to be done by a flat iron. It retails for 175 but I got it for 115 from another site. :D

Good to know! I am "in the market" for a new flat iron cause I use my roomies Chi right now but I have a hard enough time thinking of shelling out $100 for one of those!

yeah like someone said, that's just the reaction to your wet hair. I don't use it on damp hair. If I know I'm going to straighten my hair that day I let it airdry (and if not I'll blowdry it) and then I'll straighten it.

I don't think the sizzling is frying hair, it's just the reaction of heat to the wetness. And that's why there's steam. I've been using a Chi for a while and it works fairly well. Still, my hair is less damaged if I use a blowdryer and a round brush for most of the straightening. The iron is just for touchups.

I have the T3 Tourmaline which is supposedly good for wet/damp or dry hair. I tried it on my "damp" hair once. Never again. I just couldn't use to listening to my hair sizzle like bacon. It still got poofy after that and I had to go over it again when it dried. After spending $200 dollars on my T3 I think that the next time I buy a flat iron I'll demo it first.

and I thought using flat irons on wet/damp hair was a big no no, even if the tool said it was safe for it?

Okay I totally want this put I have never spent this much on a beauty product before. I saw a weeks ago that they sell it @ Saks so maybe I'll check it out. Considering I relax my hair and use one that I've dropped and cracked twice...I might want to invest in it!
