Perfect Ponytail Quick Tip

Reader Tip: Get a Curly Ponytail Without Flattening Out

Here's an excerpt from OnSugar blog Kiss and Tell:

Ever spend forever curling or teasing your hair for that perfect pulled-back ponytail look only to pull it through the elastic a few times and it ends up looking dull or flat? Try this.

Instead of pulling your hair through the elastic again and again, ruining the style you spent so much time achieving, take an elastic and attach two bobby pins, one on each side. Secure one bobby pin into the ponytail and wrap the elastic around the base of the hair, then fasten the other bobby pin. This will ensure your styled hair won't get ruined while you're putting it back.

the bungee trick is a great one! it's also perfect for doing little girl hair that's soft and fine, especially ballerina buns!

ohhh i do this and I love it. It doesn't pull on your hair either. Except sometimes it takes a few tries because the pin could poke into your head as the day goes by.

Or you could just use a bungee cord ponytail holder. It's essentially the same thing, but you won't have bobby pins sticking out of your head.
