Sometimes the simplest red carpet moments are the ones that stun the most. So was the case when Priyanka Chopra [1] walked the red carpet at the 2016 Emmy Awards [2]. She went with a modern take on an Old Hollywood glam look: a classic red lip and a sleek ponytail (elastic was hidden by hair wrapped around it).

"Priyanka was styled in a stunning red dress so to complement it, I went for a glowing healthy look, with a hint of golden bronze," Mori said in an email. "The key focus was her lips — drawing from the dress, I visualized a 1940s / Hollywood glam / Ava Gardner look. The dress was glamorous and feminine and soft-looking, but bold as red, allowing me to create defined lips and subtle golden hues to balance an overall radiant look."

Of course we had to know exactly what was on her lips. The color in question was Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in Rouge Charnel [3] ($37). "At home, I would recommend Chanel Hydra Beauty Lip Balm [4] to begin," Mori noted. "That will help moisten the lips to avoid looking dry after applying the lipstick color." Her finishing touch was Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Rouge Profond [5] ($31) to outline and define Priyanka's pucker.

The color combination of rouge and bronze worked perfectly for Priyanka's complexion. "Medium-skin tones are well complemented with golden bronze, like how light-skin tones go well with light shimmery silver," she explained. "Olive tones always look good with colors of reddish tint to give the skin a warm, healthy glow."

One specific part of Priyanka's gown also influenced her hairstyle. "The neckline of the dress inspired the left side of her hair, which I twisted to match the neckline," Priyanka's hairstylist Castillo told us via email. "I like to think of it as a modern day Greek goddess. The side part was inspired by the off-the-shoulder look of the dress."

To create this sculpted ponytail, he used MOP Orange Peel Molding Cream [6] ($22) for grip to twist and hold the look in place. Hair pins and MOP C-System Firm Hair Spray [7] ($24) literally sealed the deal.

"I stuck with products that were really moisturizing, because the last thing I wanted to do was create any kind of frizz or dryness in her hair," he explained. "She has beautiful thick, luscious hair. So for anyone who has this hair type, don't be afraid to use a little more product to style it."
