Product Review: Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color

A couple of weeks ago I told you about the new creamy lipsticks from Bobbi Brown. After spending a couple of days with them, I thought I'd report back some of my findings. Usually I am over the moon about Bobbi Brown products, but this one gives me mixed feelings.

I'm not so sure that the creamy effect they were going for was achieved. While the lipstick provides lots of shine and long-lasting color, when it comes to a smooth application, I was disappointed.

The formula is really thick, so it almost feels like a tacky balm as opposed to a creamy lipstick. In fact, I think that warming it up a little bit on your hand before you apply it to your lips would help it glide on more smoothly. I understand that the stickiness is necessary to create shine, but I was expecting a much silkier texture.

However, there is one added and unexpected surprise. The lipstick is absolutely devoid of a scent, which I happen to love given the amount of fragrances in every other product we tend to put on our face. Now it's your turn to try them out. If you do, please include your thoughts in a comment below.

Tacky isn't my thing either. I used to use Bobbi Brown rather religiously and loved what I used. I still love "Fierce"--perfect pigment. Sorry to hear this one is off. I'd like to test it.

I have not purchased one yet but I love Bobbi Brown products. For something like this, I assume you would need to reapply more than a regular lipstick. Sounds sort of like a MAC Slimshine. Seems to get mixed I am still going to try it.

I just bought Blue Raspberry. I love the feel of it--balmy but not too sticky. It stays put with no bleeding. I love the color too. Normally, I'm into warmer colors (I normally wear Bobbi Brown's "Brown") but this looks good on me. I was surprised. I thought it would be too dark or too loud but it seems to brighten my complexion and makes my teeth look whiter. I think it might be my perfect, every day pink. I'd buy it again!

I just bought this lipstick, it is amazing. Out of all the lipsticks i own,( which i have more than i can count, this is definately the best. It is neither sticky nor tacky. I love the color. I bought blue raspberry. It is lovely. A really nice medium pink. I am looking forward to purchasing more of these . this is her best lipstick yet.

I bought the Pink Ballet yesterday and wore it today. I can see where you say it's balmy, but it didn't bother me. Oh and I hate sticky lip stick/gloss. Maybe it's the color I have, but it also didn't last very long. Of course it was pretty shear to begin with. I have mixed feelings about this lip stick. I probably won't go buy another one, but I will still wear this one.

Well that's a bummer, I was just about to order two of these. I was really drawn in by the "creamy" title.

I haven't tried this but the sticky, tacky texture sounds appealing to me. Probably because those textures seem to last longer and also go on thickly and shiny as you said.

Pretty colors, and I like Bobbi Brown, but I hate anything that feels sticky or tacky on the lips.

I don't have the full-size lipsticks, but I did get a sample palette with an order recently, and I have to agree with Bella on the somewhat disappointing smoothness... it was very thick, and not particularly creamy, but otherwise I felt it lived up to expectations (ie, nice shiny color and decently long wear). I solved the application problem by putting on a lip balm first (mainly for the SPF) and then applying the lipstick with a brush, and that seemed to work, but I suppose it's not the most convenient way to get your lipstick on... To answer 1love, Bobbi's other lipstuff is generally much less tacky - I'm not really sure what's up with this one!

that sounds yucky. I'm sure they have a less tacky line of amazing lip products... yes?
