I Was a MAC Pro For 11 Years, and This Is What It's Really Like to Work There

A Simple Trick to Look Less Tired

Without concealer, I look like Uncle Fester. Ergo, concealer is my friend. My very, very good friend. Once you know how to conceal dark circles, you're well on your way to looking like you've just had a full night's sleep.

But here's a little trick to look not just well-rested, but absolutely glowing. After applying concealer, dab a few drops of liquid luminizer (such as Smashbox Artificial Light) underneath your eyes, moving to the outer corners of your eyes, and near the brow line. You don't need much, and the idea is to pat and dab the luminizer rather than rub it in. The light-reflecting pigments will bounce light off of your skin, making your entire eye area appear brighter — and you'll look 100% bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. (OK, maybe not bushy-tailed, but one out of two isn't bad.)

Thanks for the tip! I got the Artificial Light by Smashbox as a free sample at Sephora a month ago, and I didn't even know what I would use it for!

Great tip! I've tried so different things over the years, this is one of my biggest problems. Products from Avène do wonders to me:

Smashbox just came out with a new product that is a 2-in-1 combo of Artificial Light and Photo Finish Primer. I think it is for a limited time and is supposed to be great!

Just to let you know, Lancome is coming out with highlighter made to compliment their concealer maquicomplet. There will be different shades for the different shades of concealer.... it's pretty cool.

I use the whitish color. It's called Diffuse now; I have a bottle from before the package redesign, and it doesn't have a name on it (or maybe the sticker came off). I think Revlon makes a similar product, so it might be worth checking out the drugstore as well.
