We get an exclusive peek inside Sophia Bush's beauty routine, discover her celebrity hair crushes, and find out the beauty app she can't live without, courtesy of Allure.
After a decade on the teen phenom One Tree Hill, Sophia Bush has finally graduated: This season, she'll play an officer on NBC's police drama Chicago P.D. We sat down with the star for a little beauty interrogation.
Allure: What's been your biggest red-carpet beauty disaster?
Sophia Bush: "Oh my god, all of 2004. Right out of college and having to do events, and having absolutely no clue how to deal with that pressure — I kind of imploded from it."
Allure: What about your daily beauty routine?
SB: "Chicago is so, so dry. I spend my morning having my hair blown out, so I'm trying to be better to it. Otherwise I think it'll all just fall out. So I'm doing a lot of conditioning masks. Also, all of us in the makeup trailer on C.P.D. have really gotten addicted to Perricone products. They're so good. Before, I was using a lot of Ahava, which is full of Dead Sea minerals, so now I'm sort of seesawing between the two. It keeps your skin nice and surprised."
Allure: Any secrets for maintaining your bangs?
SB: "Mine are almost grown out at this point, but when I was keeping them short and straight across the brow, I had to get them cut every ten days. But I travel so much that it got hard while I was on the road. I started, whenever I got to a city, just getting on Style Seat, which is the most incredible app for any girl who doesn't have 100 stylists at her fingertips. I can see who's well-rated and whose portfolio I like, and then book an appointment all from my phone, which made having bangs a lot easier."
Allure: Are there any beauty trends you're especially into right now?
SB: "I have pretty thick eyebrows, so I'm really grateful to Brooke Shields, the first time around, and now Cara Delevingne for making that such a thing. For those of us who were born that way, it's kind of nice. And I would love it if I could rock Michelle Williams's pixie haircut."
Allure: Which celebrities do you look to for beauty inspiration?
SB: "Two people who I think have the world's most perfect skin are Cate Blanchett and Kate Bosworth. Maybe there's something to being named Kate, I don't know, but those two just seem to be effortless, yet completely, ethereally gorgeous."
