Therapy Systems Redness Treatment

Emergency Relief From Redness

While there are plenty of great skin care options available for gals with sensitive skin, what about the occasional and pesky flare-up of redness that all skin types can relate to, such as the kind that occurs from an unexpected pimple, or a nose rubbed raw from a winter cold? In the past I've resorted to applying everything from Neosporin to thick, goopy hand cream on my poor nose, or even Visine on a pimple. Neither really worked.

Fortunately, I've discovered a much better and effective option in Therapy Systems' Emergency Treatment Cream ($32). This light and fluffy pink concoction is formulated with hydrocortisone to immediately zap redness and calm inflammation. Just dab a little on the emergency stricken areas, and it soothes your skin while eliminating the redness. Crisis averted!

For another great (and cheaper) option,

A more affordable alternative is Aveeno's Maximum Strength Anti-Itch Cream ($6). Even though it's marketed as an anti-itch cream, It contains the same active ingredient, hydrocortisone, to reduce redness and inflammation. I recommend it over other drugstore hydrocortisone creams because it contains ingredients such as oatmeal and aloe to nurture your skin while it's being treated.

thanks for the post! I will give it a try. I did try the new clinque line and the results were pretty mediocre for such an expensive product!

I used to get random red bumps because my skin refuses to be normal, but now I use dove sensitive skin and cetaphil lotion for when I have a dry nose/hands/feet etc. I will definitely take a look at this product now!

I don't have sensitive skin but I get occasional redness - I'll have to try this, probably the Aveeno to start off with...

My skin always gets red in the cold...and also, when I get out of a hot shower, like Ashcwebb says. It also is really dry in the winter. I've tried the Aveeno cream in the past and it works pretty well, but I'd like to try the Therapy Systems one too.

Blistex Medex is also good for chapped noses. It comes in a little blue pot.

Hi! I just want to clarify that the Emergency Treatment Cream and the Aveeno Anti-Itch cream are not to be used as facial moisturizers, or to be applied to the entire face. They are strictly spot treatments, for blemishes or inflamed/irritated areas on your face. You are right that hydrocortisone can be a little harsh for those of you with very sensitive skin, so stick to applying the creams directly to the affected areas only.

Luckily unless it's some allergic reaction my skin rarely gets red from the winter or any season for that matter...

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeck- i think us gal with sensitive skin cringe at reading this.... hydrocortisone in a facial moisturizer is bad news... it breaks down the natural skin barrier and makes the skin more susceptible to environmental issues- equaling more redness, etc... that's why everyone of us with sensitive and red-prone skin are staying away from clinique's redness line...
