Using Fake Toenails to Get Pretty Feet

Fake Toenails: The Lazy Woman's Pedicure

On a flight a few weeks back, my mother sat next to a group of nurses going to Palm Beach for a conference. She immediately noticed that they all had perfect, matching pedicures.

"Oh, how fun," she said. "You ladies all went to the salon together?" The nurses got very excited, began giggling like schoolgirls, and then the one next to her leaned over and whispered "No, they're all fake. $5.99!" My mom then called me to ask if I'd ever used something like this. I'd seen fake toenails before — always walk past them at Rite Aid — but I'd never heard of anyone who'd used them, let alone with great results. So I did a little online hunting, and I have to say that there's quite an array of these things.

The ones the nurses were using must have been these Kiss Everlasting Glue-On Toenails ($5.99), because the price is right, but all the big brands seem to have their own, from Revlon's Perfect Pedicure ($9) fakes to Broadway Nails Fashion Divas ($6), which come in several "sassy" styles that 12 year-old me would have loved but that the thought of an adult wearing makes me vaguely afraid. What do you all think? Have any experience with these things? If you've used them, I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

i think the toenails are AWESOME! i can usually grow my own nails just fine. but when i get super stressed i pick at them and i am totally embarrassed for anyone to see my feet. i have purchased 4 pairs over the last several years and have LOVED the way they look on my feet!!! I think the best brand out there is KISS. i currently have a pair on by DAZZLE TOEZ because Wal-Mart was out of the KISS for TOES when i was there. (Which told me that other ppl like them too). These were the only nails/toenails that they were sold-out of. I think they are a great and cheap way to keep your toes looking great when they need to be exposed. Just keep extra nails and glue with you when you're out. GO FOR IT!!! They also have plain ones that don't have the french manicure on them, but you will need to paint them. i haven't tried those yet! Good Luck and i think you'll Love them!!

I bought a set of these to test-run before an upcoming wedding (can't afford a pedi on top of a mani) and they are so realistic looking! It's amazing! I tried my strappy heels on with them and they looked great. It remains to be seen whether they last without falling off when walking around. I only need them for one day so that shouldn't be a problem. Needless to say, I'm sold on Kiss Everlasting Nails. The tabs make them super easy to apply. The glue cap doesn't seem to re-close, which is disappointing.

I've never used the toenails, but I used the fingernails after meeting a girl who landed a job wearing them. I was initially a fake nail snob, but after getting acrylics done on my fingers for around $75 to have them FALL OFF within a week, I've changed my tune. If they real stuff is going to fall off anyway, I might as well spend pocket change for the same look!

I used these for my senior prom. I hated the thought of spending $35 on my toes when everything else was already costing me so much, so I figured I'd give them a try. I forget how long they stayed on, and I didn't paint over them, but they're good for a quick fix for a special event. No one knew the difference when looking at my feet. For the price you can't beat it for even just one night of wear!

What a gross joke.. and I wish the French pedicure would just die. It's so nasty for women to grow their toenails out just to French tip them.

I'm not a fan of fake nails either. I wouldn't use these.

I use these! They are awesome. They are really quick for when you can't get to the salon, and when done right, they will last about a week! They have the various sizes since toes can be so different, and they look great! So easy, and for $5.99 the price is right!
