What Beauty Look Makes No Sense to You?

I'm clearly in the minority here, but I cannot understand the appeal of French pedicures. More than 60 percent of you deem them chic, but they baffle me. Though I'm not a fan of their manicure counterpart, it's easy to understand why people want to make their nail growth look neat and brighter. But I'll never understand trompe-l'œil toenail growth. To each her own; it's just not a look for me. What about you? Is there a beauty look whose popularity you can't grasp?

Yep. I'm with you on the French pedicure. It's just plain weird. I get the light color part of it but the tip? No. Another beauty fad that I didn't like was the metallic or light colored tips on eyelashes. I thought the goal was to make eyelashes look long and lush. The gold tips made people's (the few who did this) lashes and eyes look really unattractive. I guess as long as there are companies trying to sell cosmetics, there will be company make up artists trying to figure out ways to increase our purchases. XO

Thick goopy clear or pale lipgloss! Might as well scoop on some Vaseline. Gangrenous looking toenail colors. Matte foundation. Gel nails. Fake eyelashes in daytime. Oily body moisturizer and bronzer. Pearly highlighter. And sassy flirty perky pixie cuts. They almost always scream menopause to me.

Think that the "Blonde-norexic" look ( single-process, over-bleached hair like some of the ladies on 'Real Housewives...(Beverly Hills; The OC; D.C. et al) is sooo unattractive! Who does their hair?!?!? Obviously NOT someone like the Uber-talented Chaz or other well-known celeb stylists. (Doesn't take much talent to over-bleach hair to the point of breakage!) Also find the black/grey/olive nail polishes gross - are you channeling Ozzie Osbourne or the Kiss band-mates?!?!? Sorry, I KNOW it's supposed to be "Haute Coture" but to me they just look dirty/grungy!

# 56 you obviously missed the part when I said, "I know some women like to put on a little lipgloss, I mean that's one thing, but glitter?" A little casual work makeup is one thing, I'm talking about the girls who get done up like they're going clubbing. The only people who can get away with wearing glitter to work are actors and strippers. If you're wearing heavy makeup and glitter to work, you probably look ridiculous as hell. Anyway, I never said hate. If a girl wants to look like a Vegas showgirl while she's on the treadmill then that's her business. Bella asked what beauty look makes no sense to me and I answered. It's not that big of a deal.

Glitter on your chest, eyebrows that are shaved then drawn on in a shade that is no where close to your hair color! Also, Really dark brown or blackish red hair with dingy looking yellowy streaks, and buttloads of mascara has always baffled me, it makes your eyes look dirty, like you havent washed your face!

1 colored/ designed acrylic nail tips.. don't even like the white tips, since 99.9% of the time they're too long, but to each their own, I prefer mani's on my own nails 2 some serious Jersey Shore fake tan, esp. in the middle of winter, no one is possibly getting that dark in winter! 3 chunky highlites blond ones in dark hair for example, it's 2010, make them look natural and not so gross

Icky- French pedis. French manis. Square nails unless you're gonna fight in the gang rumble. Pictures on your nails - what are you, twelve? Bumpits. Visible extension ties. Long hair draping around your boobs or into your arpits. Yes, I mean you on the Red Carpet. Or is that to help sop up sweat? Ick Ick- Skirts so short only your gyno should have to see you sit. Psst- deep, deep V necklines aren't sexy if you sag & most of you who wear them do. SH? Are you reading? High-contrast hair roots - for what they pay you, can't you afford a visit to the hairdresser for touch-ups? Maybe you're interviewing for a new show about Trailer Trash. Besides, it's easier if you only have to identify one haircolor on your dl & passport. What's with the leg "cross" anymore? That's so over. Just makes you look like a little kid who has to pee! Yes, I mean you PH, ER & all the other wannabes! Besides, makes the legs look even skinnier which isn't a good look in a mini..

By the way, I've only seen one or two girls ever get that done up for the gym. It's rare, and the reason it's so rare is because it's so ridiculous. The reason bleach blonde hair isn't extremely rare is because it's not ridiculous.

Finch you obviously missed this part of my post, "I can't imagine what that does to her pores." Seriously, how can you work up a sweat with all that makeup? Wouldn't it smear? Wouldn't it clog your pores, or be bad for your skin in some way? What's the point in keeping your body fit if your skin is all jacked up? It's also different from having a noticeable hair color because of the amount of effort it takes. I roll out of bed and have mine, everyday. Girls who wear glitter to the gym obviously go through a lot of trouble to look that way, I do not understand at all why. I like attention, and I'm not afraid to admit it, but eyeshadow and glitter at the gym? That makes a girl look *desperate* for attention. It makes her look wildly insecure over her looks. I know some women like to put on a little lipgloss, I mean that's one thing, but glitter? Really, that doesn't seem excessive to you? It's not an issue of drawing attention to yourself, so much as it's a time/place issue. I just don't feel like the gym is an appropriate place to get that done up. You found my post so judgmental and hypocritical that you felt the need to call me out on it... honestly though if a girl is that insecure/desperate for attention, I think you can judge certain aspects of her personality fairly well. I could dye my hair a less bold color tomorrow and feel 100% comfortable with myself. Do you think a girl who wears glitter to the gym could wash her face off and still feel confident?

Kohina. Some women do that when their hair stops growing, or starts to fall out or looks unhealthy. Sometimes its the only thing they can do, even if they hate the idea.

French pedicures cant make your feet look attractive if they aren't... I personally hate fake lips, it looks disgusting on everyone!! Also, like others have said. Overly plucked or thin eyebrows. My sister over plucks, and it makes her look older. Full brows make you look youthful. People do not realize that.

i agree that none of the things listed here are especially elegant. the worst is the brows though, brows make SUCH a big difference in how your face looks, so shaving them off and drawing them on is a pretty awful idea. My advice is to let them grow out, then just pluck the strays, brush them and trim them as much as possible while keeping them natural-looking, and define with a pencil lighter than them if necessary. regarding blondeness, its hard to maintain blonde hair and prevent brassiness so i dont really care if people think its 'flat' or 'unnatural.' ever since i learned how to keep my hair brass- and orange-free, i looove my blonde hair :) if i was richer and less busy maybe i'd get lowlights, but its not really a priority right now. i dislike most tattoos that i see, facial jewelry in most cases (some people do look nice with a little nose stud) and ear-holes...that ring that stretches out a big hole in ppls earlobes. why ruin yourself in these ways!? i think what irritates me is that these looks are very in-your-face and not at all enhancing anyone's natural beauty.

I also saw a lot of judgmental comments. None of these beauty looks apply to me, but sheesh.. I don't see how wearing makeup to the gym is worse than having ridiculously colored hair. If she's wearing makeup to the gym to draw attention to yourself, well whatever, you're doing basically the same thing by having an outstanding haircolor that's bound to draw attention to yourself. What hypocrisy as for the beauty looks I dislike: anything Gaga wears, except for her hairbow :)

I really dislike extremely ashy hair colours. I also HATE when girls with straight hair pile their hair with mousse to get curls but instead their hair is stringly, thin and crunchy.

Nude when they match the rest of your skin color or close to it. It makes you look either ill or lipless.

Wow, I read a lot judgemental comments up there...yet, we're all crazy about Mad Men and love the makeup/fashion of it...on ourselves.

Agreed with pretty much everyone... and I have to add in the frosted light pink/bordering on white lipstick. You look like a frigging trannie!!

I hate every trend listed on here. I think French mani-pedis are extremely tacky, but fake nails are even worse. Anything fake simply doesn't look good. It's not classy.
