What Are Pre-Shampoos?

What's Your Take on Pre-Shampoo Treatments?

Burt's Bees at ShopStyle

Before you shampoo, do you pre-shampoo? While formulas vary to address specific needs, most of these before-you-cleanse-type products are designed to enhance the benefits of your shampoo and conditioner. They often have an oily consistency, and when used in conjunction with a massage, they can be quite soothing.

But are they necessary? No, but many people love to use them because of the soft and shiny results these treatments provide. Do you like pre-shampoo treatments, or do you pooh-pooh the idea?

I was super excited to try the Burt's Bees Avocado Butter, but is is kind of sticky and doesn't smell very pleasant. Now, Philosophy's Marinating Oil, on the other hand, is lovely, but Philosophy has just discontinued it. So very sad... :(

I never thought of using one before; however, I got an Ojon kit and it had the Restorative Pre-Shampoo cream in the kit. I absolutely love it, it makes my hair shiny and the condition of my hair has improved with each use. I use it especially if I am going to salon to have my hair blow dried out.

I have super dry, chemically relaxed hair that I am trying to grow out and for me, it really helps to maintain moisture in my hair. Is it necessary, not really but I do like the results. Anyway this step is not for everyone.

I love the results I get from using the original VO5 hot oil treatments before shampooing, I just don't use them enough!

I have super-dry, colored, relaxed hair so yes I believe in pre-poos! I'm currently using Philosophy's Marinating Oil but when I'm out of it< I'd love to try the Burt's Bees Avocado Treatment as a less expensive alternative. They are just an effortless way to condition, I usually sleep in it and wash my hair in the morning like normal.
