What Was Your Biggest Beauty Blunder?

I think we've all committed "crimes of beauty" at one point or another. Not that any of these so-called faux pas hair and makeup missteps were wrong or anything — but perhaps they could have been approached in a slightly different way, that's all. So, tell me: What was your biggest blip on the beauty radar screen?

Poofy bangs... against my will as a child. SO BAD!

I actually haven't had any beauty blunders. I have four older sisters and I have learned from their blunders.

Probably NOT maintaining my eyebrows. I never really did anything with them til this year, and I love the difference it makes to my whole face.

Definitely over tweezing my eyebrows, I now wax off only what is looking snarly.

When I was in my early teens, the silver shimmery eyecreams became fashion. And I never thought about doing a wash of colour, I just made my eyes look like the water faucets and thought I looked great!

Poofy bangs back in the late 80s/early 90s and over-tweezed brows when I was in high school.

Thank god I never did over-plucked eyebrows, but I was a HUGE fan of the poofy bangs! I went through so many bottles of AquaNet...*sigh*

Yeah rachi99, I totally forgot about my pretty pretty home perm. It did match perfectly with my gorgeous bangs, though. You think we'll look back at what we're doing now and wonder what we're thinking? :)

Letting my cousin dye my hair red, and the color fading to orange!

Oooh...Overly tweezed brows up until a little while ago. And dark lip liner when I was a freshman. I look back now and go, "Ewwwwww..."

mine was kind of like the bangs thing but it HAD to be the whole perm craze - i don't know what i was thinking at the time but i think that i looked like an electrocuted poodle and that was NOT a good look for me.

In seventh grade, all the girls in my group were wearing a specific shade of very dark burgundy Cover Girl lipstick. So I did it too. Years later, I've burned all pictures from that era. It just...did not look as cool as I thought it did. My face isn't made for dark lipstick.

Bad foundation choice combined with dark burgundy lipstick borrowed from mom. Yeah, my Freshman year Homecoming picture is very Josie Grosie. THAT little gem is buried, DEEP.

Rave hairspray, nothin'. AquaNet would keep those claw bangs in terrifying place for an entire junior high school day. Let us not speak of my GIANT whitegirl perm I was rockin' in eighth grade. My Mom did it at home, no less. Yiiiiii.

Over-tweezed eyebrows. I was 13 and just starting to experiment with plucking. I started off fine however thought "Maybe I should remove some more strands?" Then it went downhill. Luckily most grew back however the area above my brows is still alittle sparse.

Overtweezing.

My first experiment with self tanner, I thought it would be a great idea to cover my feet (I had a wicked Birkenstock tan in HS) I had no idea how much to put on and I only put it on the pale stripes. I ended up with bright orange feet and pale toes, my best friends called me "monkey feet" for the rest of the school year! I'm still afraid of self tanner, thank goodness for the gradual lotion kind! Otherwise, I stay my "butt-white" self.

Over plucking my eyebrows. Thank goodness they grew back! Oh. Curl-ironing my hair. I damaged my sleek, shining hair trying to make it curl. Never again. I learned to work with what I have. Not create something that's not there.

I overplucked my eyebrows so badly that I got the nickname Unobrow because one of them was almost gone. I think I was 14 at the time. I wish I never touched them because they were perfect and now you just can't stop.

um...self tanned hands, orange knuckles and cuticles...yikes!

My biggest beauty blunder was letting someone other than a professional hair dresser bleach my hair. I was young, brunette, and didn't know any better. Luckily, orange hair grows out just like regular hair and things were eventually back to normal.
