1 Woman Transforms Into Her Maternal Ancestors Using Photoshop

Jan 2 2015 - 2:31pm

Many of the Photoshop experiments [1] we've seen lately have used the software to transform women into society's "best" or "prettiest" version of themselves. However, the latest take on the artistic trend may be our favorite. Artist and photographer Christine McConnell [2] used Photoshop and makeup to transform herself into multiple generations of her maternal lineage. The pictures are really good — so much so that we were initially confused as to which shots were vintage! So, we'll break it down for you: a photograph of one of Christine's ancestors is pictured on the left side of each collage, while Christine is on the right. From what looks to be a daguerreotype to a hazy glamour shot in all its retro glory, Christine nails each transformation with ease (though she may be a little too pretty to convince us she looks like her horse). Read on to see the stunning images, and then visit Christine's Instagram account [3] to look at more of her work.
