Would You Wear Giant Barrettes?

This style of barrette always reminds me of the Olympics, because it seemed to be the preferred hair accessory of gymnasts and figure skaters everywhere. While you've probably worn old-school contoured barrettes much like the ones pictured here on the right, they probably weren't ones of such enormous proportions. Adia Kibur's Jumbo Hair Clips are available in both black and gold ($15 each), and are an easy way to make an oversized statement. What do you think about these larger-than-life hair accessories? Do they have just the right amount of kitsch, or are they simply too overwhelming?

i totally own a bunch of these in a myriad of colors. I have really thick curly hair, so i actually just pull back my hair in the front and snap it on the top to keep my hair out of my face. i LOVE them! they used to carry them at H&M but i havent seen any until right now thanks to a google search! im totally gonna get more :)

It looks horrible! Maybe for some avant-garde hairstyle it would work.

I think it might look cool on others, but for me personally, No Way! First of all I already have a small head - I don't need a giant "recognizable" sort of clip to make it more obvious. Secondly I don't think it could possibly be light enough to stay put in my fine thin hair - it would slowly fall out, dragging some of my hair with it.

I would - I think it depends on the size of your head, hair thickness and length as to if you can pull it off or not w/o looking awkward. It would be neat to criss-cross them for a diff. affect and if they were colored.

These are just too big for the average person unless you were really trying to make a statement.

This is just stupid.

This frightens me.

I've had larger sized barrettes like this, though not quite that big. They weren't able to hold much hair at all.

the little ones always leave a line in my hair and sometimes even damage it. i can't imagine what a giant one would do.

Don't be surprised if you see one of these around the office soon, Bella...

I wouldn't. I think it would look like I shrunk and that's why my barrette look so huge

No thanks.

Now they look like they've got tiny heads...("Are you shaking it now? I can't tell!") Pretty cool though.

Those are silly! I'd be thrilled to see someone else wearing one and might even high-five her, but I do not have the moxie needed to pull that one off.

Only if I had a giant head.

We all wear headbands, this really isn't much more of a statement or overwhelming than headbands are, we just are not used to seeing these. I would totally give 'em a try - in both colors!

It does not look comfortable, to me..

Finally a barrette that can hold all of my massive hair:)

I'd wear one at home when washing my face, exercising or cleaning the house. I wish they were a more neutral color though :)
