What Happened When This Makeup Artist Accused Real Techniques of Stealing Her Work

Is Your Hairstyle Wash and Wear?

Back in the 1960s, iconic stylist Vidal Sassoon perfected the "wash-and-wear" hairstyle. His cuts relied on sharp, geometric angles, and remained product-free, allowing the natural swing and shine of the hair come through.

It was a haircut revered for its chic style and ease of care. Do you have a wash-and-wear kind of hairstyle — one that requires minimal effort on your part? Or, do you have to put a little extra TLC into your locks to get them to be where you want?

My hair is kind of wash and wear. I have very think curly/wavy hair and at the moment it is just above shoulder length. I think it actually takes more effort in the shower to get my hair to actually feel like hair because its so thick so i have to deep condition and all that. It could be wash and wear i guess but i just like my style better straightened.

styling is overrated. i'm too lazy, too cheap and too concerned about the health of my hair to style

My hair is totally wash and wear. All I do is add some No Frizz and brush my hair. Second day hair is a pony and the third day is a bun. I've got curly hair and it's so easy to manage.

thanks bellasugar! i always wondered why everyone had short hair the first (and last) time i ever went into a vidal sassoon salon. i had no clue this is what he was famous for.

I wish it was but it depends on the weather.

My hair texture won't allow it.

I have long, wavy hair. I get out of the shower and let it air dry without putting anything in it! It's weird because when I do brush it or treat it with any product or blow-dryer, that's when it turns out all frizzy and awkward--so that's why I never do anyhting! I love my hair :0)

I just make sure to blow dry it to get some volume at the crown, and I rub some curl cream in the ends. I don't use a straight iron anymore, I prefer a more natural look..

My hair is hip-length so definitely not minimal effort. However, I have the flexibility to wear a wide range of styles: long and straight, bouncy curls, sleek updos, and even semi-loose updos which resemble short hair. I love that versatility so the extra trouble is worth it to me. Anyway, when I'm really pressed for time I can always throw my damp hair in a 15 second bun and forget about it for the rest of the day.

I have wash and go hair. And it's curly! But with the right cut, you can get away with it! Occasionally I'll straighten it, but mostly it's curly.

I'm growing out a perm, and have learned the hard way that curly haired girls do have it harder. My hair is now half straight, curly at the bottom, so yea, it takes work. Normally it takes work anyways, cuz its long.

i wish my hair was wash & wear. it used to be when i had it cut super short but not so much anymore.

sometimes, sort of. My hair has a bit of curl/wave to it, so if i wear it curly it's pretty wash and go. But I MUCH MUCH prefer it straight, which is far from wash and go.

katie225, I hear ya! No such thing as wash and wear for us curly girls ;) Most days I straighten mine, and that takes a good half hour or so...

Mine was but I am growing it out, so right now it takes a little effors to tame. But once it gets a little longer I will get it styled and back to wash and go!

Mine's wash and go. It's naturally wavy/loose curls cut in long layers so I let it be.

I have to straighten it unless I want to walk around with a giant frizzball on my head. Takes time, but it's worth it to look like a normal person. ;)

I have to blow dry and straighten or use a diffuser if I want to go a bit wavy, but I don't put a lot of effort into my blowdrying technique.
