Rock Your Curls and Rule the Jungle With This Fierce Halloween Beauty DIY

Fierce animal costumes [1] are a Halloween favorite every year, but now we're learning how to embrace our curls as a majestic zebra thanks to beauty blogger Rochelle Masella, aka DiscoCurls [2]. We're not saying this is as simple as drawing whiskers on your nose and being a cat, but it's easy enough that you can focus on your makeup and stop worrying about finding a last-minute costume!

Rochelle starts by smoothing out the perimeters of her hair with a styling cream and combing out the bumps. She gathers her hair into a high ponytail and secures it with a banana clip, using bobby pins to keep her bangs in place.

To transform into a zebra, she used a white cream makeup to cover her entire face and neck area, and then a colorless powder to set it (so it lasts longer than Fruit Stripe gum [3]).

Using black pencil eyeliner, she covers her entire eyelids and lines the inner eye area. (If you're looking for more precise lines, you can use a liquid formula.) Rochelle uses black eye shadow to go over the same areas for a more striking look.

After the eyes are done, she outlines the nose and mouth area and fills it in with black creme makeup.

Before starting the stripes, Rochelle notes that there's no specific way to lay them out, but referring to photos of actual zebras will help guide you. She switches off using black pencil eyeliner set with black eye shadow and a liquid liner for the thin stripes.

For the neck, she uses a flat, synthetic brush to apply black cream makeup in V-shaped lines. (Throughout this whole tutorial, Rochelle made sure to keep checking her two zebra photos as a reference, ensuring she doesn't go overboard with the stripes.)
