Gracing the cover of Glamour, Zooey Deschanel smoldered with her signature vintage look. But there was a twist in the inspiration for the cover — the rodeo. "That was photographer Ellen Von Unwerth's first impression after seeing the wardrobe selection for the shoot and knowing Zooey's personality," said celebrity hairstylist Roque, who worked with Oribe to create her cover look. "It's great to take retro inspiration and modernize it."
See how you can pull off the look with Roque's tips.
- Start by prepping your hair with Volumista Mist For Volume ($38) before blowing it dry with a round brush. Once it's completely dry, roll your hair with two-inch Velcro rollers ($5) away from the face to let the hair set. Keep bangs rolled down toward your face to get the face-framing results.
- Once all your hair is in rollers, add a mist of Superfine Hairspray ($29) for hold. Let your hair cool.
- After removing the rollers, tease your hair in sections at the root for big bouncy curls. Spray your hair with Imperméable Anti-Humidity Spray ($20), and then pull your hair half up and secure with a clip.
- Add texture by working Supershine Moisturizing Cream ($49) and Oribe Rough Luxury Molding Wax ($35) onto random pieces of hair.
